BEAT REPORTING
Routinely made pitches and recaps of the elite UGA Women’s Basketball team coverage during the 2020-21 season for Grady Newsource. During the course of the season, Coach Joni Taylor earned the 2021 SEC Basketball Coach of the Year with multiple players later on drafted into the WNBA.
2023-24 Athens Academy Season Recap
For the Athens Academy’s Girls Basketball Team, the 2023-24 season began with cautious optimism of growth and ended with the pleasant surprise of exceeding expectations early. Coming off a 2022-23 season where they placed 2nd in their region tournament and lost 5 roster spots to graduation, a rebuild year seemed imminent. The young team had something to say about that however.

In their premiere year recognized as an official Georgia High School Association sport, I travel to Lake Lanier with Clarke Central's bass fishing team at the Student Angler Federation (SAF) - High School Fishing Georgia State Championship.

Served as the inaugural host for 2021’s spring Sportsource, a show typically held in the fall. Began the Coaches Roundtable segment and got in on the Stock Exchange madness with playoff picks for high school basketball with fellow analysts.

When discussing return to play plans back in August, student athletes, such as Kassidy Woods took part in the #WeAreUnited campaign designed to promote fair treatment, enhanced safety and improve social injustice conditions at the college level because “NCAA sports exploit college athletes physically, economically, and academically and also disproportionately harm Black college athletes.”
Woods was ultimately told by his coach he could no longer be involved with team activities.

University of Georgia Women’s Basketball Alum and former WNBA player Christi Thomas is taking lessons learned both as a collegiate and professional athlete and passing them forward to the next generation. The former Lady Bulldog great took over as Jackson County women’s basketball coach in April.

Georgia football walk-ons Kolby Wyatt and Kaustov Chakrabarti’s longshot paths to the lineup and roster have been altered by the coronavirus pandemic. With social distancing and shelter-in-place orders, it was going to be difficult for all athletes to prepare for their respective teams, but for walk-ons, there is an added level of anxiety because of their already tenuous status.

I produced a women in sports-themed show with ambitious segments like the game of HORSE with Clarke Central’s Women’s Basketball Coach and highlighted a three-sport athlete following in the footsteps of her family.

Paula Pridgen, a skin cancer survivor, hopes to be an inspiration to others and has something to prove in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon. In 2013, after joining the Charlotte Running Club, Pridgen sprained her ankle the week before she tried to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Trials. She elected to run and finished with a time of 2:56:00.
